Bonnie Duncan

SECOND DEGREE REIKI PRACTITIONER

SPECIALITY IN SUPPORT FOR MOBILITY & LIMB LOSS

AVAILABLE
Friday & Saturday

  • Bonnie is dedicated to sharing the legacy of traditional Usui Shiki Ryoho Reiki to incorporate universal life energy into healing on all levels: mental, emotional, physical, and spiritual. She has long pursued knowledge of the role of energy in health and wellness, including more than a decade studying Qi Gong, before finding her home with Reiki and becoming a 2nd degree practitioner in 2015. The transformational power of Reiki is part of Bonnie’s personal experience. As an amputee, she found treatments uniquely effective during recovery and then in helping to integrate a prosthetic leg into a buoyant sense of mind and body wholeness. She believes in Reiki’s ability to guide healing through all kinds of transition—tapping into our full potential with love and deeper connections to self, others, and the essence of life.

What is Reiki

Reiki was originally a Japanese healing tradition introduced to the US via Hawaii. Reiki works with the body’s natural energy systems in a way that’s similar to acupuncture; using hands instead of needles.

The Japanese word Reiki, is pronounced “ray” (life-force), “key” (energy).

The Usui Shiki Ryoho system of Reiki used at Nurture, is the original lineage tradition passed from lineage bearer, to Reiki Master, to student. There are many ways to describe Reiki, but ultimately it is best understood when it’s felt.

What to Expect

Your practitioner rests their hands lightly, for 3-5 minutes, along traditional points of the front and back body. These Reiki points correspond to major organ, lymph, and energy systems.
You remain clothed while lying on a comfy massage table, covered with a light blanket, with soft music playing. Conversation is paused during the Reiki session.

Reiki’s Benefits

Reiki is shown to produce profound healing benefits specific to each individual. Many recipients enter a state between waking and sleeping where healing is shown to be especially effective. Recipients commonly report feeling lighter, more relaxed, clearer, and balanced afterward.

After Your Session

Plan to take especially good care of yourself after your session. Aside from feeling deeply relaxed, your intuition may be heightened; pay attention to signs, dreams, and new ideas for the next few days. This is an excellent time to ask for what you need in life! Reiki can also bring emotions to the surface. Be patient with yourself as you process what comes up. Reiki is a gentle, “do no harm” practice. Your session includes time to discuss the experience afterward. A few days after your appointment, we’ll send you a follow-up email to see how you’re feeling.

How Often

Repeat sessions are recommended to work with older energy patterns and for maintenance. Just as your body has muscle memory, your energetic body responds best to regular sessions.
Weekly or bi-monthly appointments are recommended when starting Reiki work. Monthly sessions help maintain optimal balance, and seasonal Reiki is recommended for everyone!
